DNS problems appear on certain websites when a VPN is active.
I've encountered a puzzling DNS resolver problem on my dedicated pfSense setup. After following PIA's guidance and checking everything, only a handful of domains are consistently failing to resolve. The two most affected sites are forum.netgate.com and extremeoverclocking.com, along with their subdomains. When using nslookup from a command prompt, they work fine unless I switch to Google's DNS. Removing the VPN connection resolves the issue, which suggests the problem is tied to the VPN configuration. I'm still unclear how the VPN client alters routing tables and DNS requests, especially since everything seems to function normally otherwise. This is confusing for someone new to pfSense. Let me know if you need further help!
