Several businesses are known for their DLC practices. They should take inspiration from CD Projekt, as fans appreciate Witcher 3. I received my copy for free on my brother's GPU, yet currently I can purchase a version under $60, which already includes 16 extra items. Additionally, I tend to buy games I might not play, but I enjoy getting 'Game of the Year' editions.
Some developers release additional content at launch, but many titles include day-one updates that essentially ask players to pay a premium. Take Evolve as an example—I don’t usually add DLC. By the time games get tougher, I tend to lose interest, so paying extra for more content isn’t really attractive to me.
Downloadable content and DLC have become a common feature in games. They add extra features, sometimes free and other times paid. Missing these can limit your experience, such as incomplete vehicles, weapons, or missions. Today, developers often break things into separate parts and sell them individually (this is DLC) to earn money. Games with many DLCs include The Sims 3, where expansion packs and stuff packs are all considered DLC.
I have found plenty of content that was once available for free a long time ago.
