I recently found this instructions manual to make your own DIY VPN using the Raspberry Pi 3B+ Board which only costs 36 British Pounds (Its 35USD and CDN$67). Its a really cool project for those at home nd requires little network know-how to get it up and running!. Link to youtube tutorial: <REMOVED>

Also seems unnecessary because the core purpose of a VPN (for most people) is to alter your IP address so it appears as though you're in a different location. If your VPN operates on the same network as your computer when you connect, you retain the identical IP address.

It's helpful when you can safely connect to your network remotely.

I concur with @Master Disaster. It's impressive how you've implemented end-to-end encryption, or if you need to reach your home network from... well, not exactly home. Still, it definitely doesn't substitute a standard VPN. A nice little initiative though.

You're correct, but it remains an enjoyable endeavor.

I've frequently used Pi VPN several times—it's a really great utility. As mentioned, most people won't require it unless they want to hide their location or traffic. However, when you do need it, it's incredibly helpful! I run three Pi devices across different networks with this setup. Extremely practical.

You can create your own guide to this idea, just like with Pritunl. It provides access to most network services on your LAN from anywhere in the world via a secure connection. Very useful for services you definitely shouldn't forward ports to.

They prefer focusing on a single service instead of forwarding all your services, making MUC H more secure.
