Division E3 vs Release - Console Compatibility Myth / Observers React Strongly
Yep. While I understand the push for "in engine footage" or "vertical slice" content, I think these tactics should be reduced. It seems this isn't a genuine development choice—it's more about producers or financiers trying to spark excitement. They clearly don’t want their efforts misrepresented, and it’s frustrating when those who earn your paycheck are asked to back it up. This feels like a cheap move, even though the studio has strong standards elsewhere.
A lot was involved, I was too. The issue with the game was that not every area was complete. The VGX trailer and E3 private demos showcased those areas because they were already finished. The "Next Gen" consoles were released at CDPR when development was supposed to wrap up (the optimization stage). They weren’t truly "Next Gen," but the developers had been working on them, and the hardware couldn’t support as much as the software from MS/Sony before the consoles launched. The expected performance matched that of a GTX 750ti or GTX 960. They had to either remove the slow version entirely or stop finishing the visual environment and abandon realistic lighting effects—like the fire scene in VGX, nighttime fire lights, clouds, and the main light source spanning a mile. All this was justified by the game’s quality (unlike Ubisoft, whose titles are often disappointing and downgraded to make consoles look better for E3). This backlash is real, and Ubisoft seems to get off the hook more often. Somehow, that’s not acceptable.
i´m positive about The Division, i do like the game, but also the graphics. There might be a bit of downgrading, but it is not that much.. looks ABSOLUTELY brilliant in 3840x2160, but struggling with a 47FPS Avg at HIGH with 2x970 (Sli is for me at max 40-45% better than single card) A LARGE amount of "debris" Detailed elements, lot´s of destructable elements. i´m positive, i do HATE these "alpha E3 launches" with BETTER graphics, it´s bullshit. also the CONSOLE PARITY thing, but this is not bad. WATCHDOGS was bad, especially because of all the HIDDEN graphical settings, with no load on GPU. but even PC exclusive has issues, XCOM2 runs like SHIT on pc´s with stutter.. so i am positive, this is a good release, might not be for everyone, because of the RPG/MMO gametype, but it is not a bad game. on par with MGS5 as a "port" for me.
