Recently my main hard drive failed (no big deal), but Windows has been displaying my second drive (ESmile even though I have installed programs on it as an external device. It’s not a major problem, but it bothers me. I recently bought another internal HDD and it also appears as an external drive, though I haven’t partitioned it yet and intend to use it differently. The strange part is that my third drive (GSmile isn’t showing up as an external device, yet I can access it normally and it functions correctly. I’ve attached a screenshot for clarity... Do you have any suggestions about what might be happening?

The motherboard might support 'hotplug' for Esata functions. If you prefer not to adjust BIOS settings, try shutting down the computer, relocating the SATA connector for the drive elsewhere, and check if the problem persists.

SATA hotplugging is frustrating. The PC seems to be downloading software while I was waiting, but I’ll check later when it’s off. I’m not sure if the issue is with the connectors since this started about two months ago. The main annoyance is that my important hard drive appears, and if it’s unplugged it won’t show up—though I don’t mind missing out on it.
