Displaying erratic white lines on the right side... I'm struggling to find a solution.
Attached is a picture of the specs for my Windows 64 bit system and monitor. This problem randomly started a few days ago on my daily driver system, which is about 4 years old and has worked pretty much without flaw. As the title indicates, on the right quarter of my screen from top to bottom, there are these rapidly glitching horizontal white lines, with one solid white line at the top. The overall picture quality appears to be compromised too, with very faint black and white horizontal lines running the length of the screen. I made sure my graphics drivers were up to date, and also replaced the Displayport cord I had been using. Here's the part that confuses me - while waiting for the new DP cord to arrive, I was using an HDMI cord on the same card and monitor, and the glitching disappeared completely, while the very faint black and white lines remained. I also tried booting into BIOS, and the problems are totally gone while in there. It seems that the problem only begins after the Windows 10 loading screen disappears and boots into my profile login page. Yet no Windows settings had been touched in quite a while. So I'm out of ideas since I'm a moderate amateur at best with tech and I don't see an obvious answer from my internet research, can anyone provide some insight?
I was using an outdated version of the driver, and I tend to skip checking the drivers unless something unusual happens. The issue appeared with both the older and newer versions. I accessed the NVIDIA control panel and experimented with settings, and it seems adjusting the refresh rate to 60Hz instead of 144Hz resolved the problem. Running at a native resolution of 2560x1440, I’m curious why it works smoothly at 60Hz but not at 144Hz.
Adjusted the Hz settings a bit more. 144Hz caused glitches and faded lines, 120Hz didn’t have glitches but still showed white and black lines, while 85Hz and below seemed fine. Confused about what’s happening.
