That's exactly what I meant, many people tend to make things more complicated. I often notice traffic moving across the internet and then connecting to an MPLS segment that seems straightforward. Our UFB (brand) GPON network is mostly MPLS, which helps deliver various services efficiently. However, it's not always set up optimally—often all my traffic heads to Auckland, goes through my ISP, and then routing happens on my end. Most of it travels to my friend’s place in town, where my server is located. The round trip time is about 18ms, which is fine because it goes back to Auckland on the way.

It seems I'm having trouble locating details about this topic. From what I understand, TTL decreases by one with each hop, and this behavior is communicated to users. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
