You're considering upgrading from a 720p screen to a 1080p TV for gaming. It's a smart move if your GPU can't handle the higher resolution. Connecting your PC to a new 43-inch 1080p TV could improve visuals, but whether it looks better or not depends on your monitor settings and the game you're playing. If you're curious about the experience without buying the TV yet, it's worth testing it out. There are ways to optimize your current setup for better performance and clarity.

The massive scale will cause blurriness. Telltales will look great on a screen.

It varies based on screen distance and overall game conditions. I recall playing Mario Kart 8 on a 1080p display from typical viewing angles, and it seemed clear enough to me. Also worth noting is that the game originally supports 720p resolution.

I'm enjoying contemporary games such as Witcher 3, AC Origins, FC5, and GTA 5, among others.

Sure, the games there don’t need super precise details, and GTA V already appears blurry and odd with any anti-aliasing, so it won’t be too problematic.

At common screen-watching ranges, the image won't appear as poor as often claimed. I'd actually be more bothered by the rise in pixelation.

Because 1080p isn't a whole number times 720p, the image will appear poorer as more pixels are added. However, the effect should be minor and probably unnoticeable.
