Display problems with the 3060 Recurring Driver update.
I encountered this problem only after testing late in the day. After thorough checks, it seems the issue is specific to this motherboard and driver version. I replaced the 3070 with a different Ryzen 3000 board and updated to the latest NVIDIA drivers—everything worked smoothly. I also tried using a 1660 Super in another PC with the same drivers, which ran without problems. However, when I switched to the 3070 in my wife's system, it crashed repeatedly. Even though the latest drivers worked on a different machine, it suggests the drivers might not be compatible with this board. I’m trying to pinpoint the exact update that triggered the problem—there were some screen artifacts at version 511.79, but otherwise it functioned. After updating to 512.15, the display crashed and I had to enter safe mode with a more stable driver. It looks like NVIDIA may have missed updating drivers for this particular board, possibly due to compatibility issues. I’m considering reporting this to NVIDIA for further investigation.
After discussing it, they agreed it was a driver problem and shared a link for more info with their team. I sent them the details, hoping it would help later. But digging deeper shows many users are facing the same issue with 3000 series cards, especially the 3070. For now, I’m switching to a different GPU to avoid further problems. It seems NVIDIA has been acting unreliable lately, which is frustrating for me. I haven’t explored AMD options yet, but the RX580 in my setup is performing well. I might consider Intel Arc as an alternative. A 16 VRAM card at $350 looks like a good deal, but I’ll weigh the options.
