Display main taskbar on a particular screen
Display main taskbar on a particular screen
I've installed an additional monitor for gaming purposes only. It won't stay on continuously, but I've assigned it as the first display since some games don't support changing their running platform in the menu. When I turn it on, the main taskbar moves to that screen and I need to drag it over to the second one. How can I make it automatically appear on the second monitor by default?
You cannot adjust the display details directly via native Windows controls, but you can ensure buttons appear across all task bars. The system tray and search box are limited to the main monitor. Settings can be modified by right-clicking the task bar and selecting Taskbar settings.
Yes, you can adjust the settings to determine which monitor supports running the games.
It varies depending on the game. Fullscreen mode usually picks the main display by default. Some let you reposition windows and then switch to fullscreen on any available monitor, while others offer options like selecting from one to three monitors. If the game restricts monitor switching, you may have limited alternatives—though you could suggest a feature update to the developers. I've played games that only go fullscreen to the primary screen, so I usually switch my main display beforehand and back afterward. People have asked about shortcuts or similar solutions before, but I haven't explored it deeply enough. It seems possible to automate this with a PowerShell script and bind it to a shortcut, though I'm not sure how to set that up. Changing main monitors isn't worth the effort for me compared to using a simple shortcut.
I'll follow that route as well. I'm just checking displayfusion choices and will share any I find. Thanks.
