Display goes dark while cooling fans increase to full power.
Hello, I'm dealing with a problem that's been happening for about a month now. When I play games, the screen suddenly disappears and the fans speed up to full. I can't fix it except by pressing the reboot button or holding the power button long enough to shut it down. After upgrading from a 1060 with 3GB RAM to a 2060 with 8GB, several issues started. At first, games would crash and show a memory error message. I tried a RAM optimizer and it worked. Now, even with CSGO, Stardew Valley, or Microsoft Word, the black screen keeps appearing. My system specs are: 250GB RAM, Ryzen 5 3400G CPU, 2060 Super 8GB GPU, Master Elite 500W power supply, 512GB SSD, and a 1TB HDD. I ran a diagnostic and confirmed the memory is fine.
No error notifications after the crash or in the Windows logs were found. Attempted a fresh driver install using DDU. Connection worked through GPU or MoBo. It seems possible the brown-out from the power supply might have caused the GPU crash. I’m also very wary of RAM optimizer tools—trust is hard to come by here.
Screen shows no input detected. Connected to GPU. Not sure about BIOS or brown out.
