I recently set up Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS on a Lenovo Ideapad y560. I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and an Ubuntu dual boot setup. I’m looking for guidance on installing graphics drivers. Lenovo offers switchable graphics, including Intel HD and AMD Radeon HD 5730. If the switchable option isn’t available, I’d like to install AMD drivers and disable Intel HD graphics.

Drivers come pre-installed – in the control center you can verify and modify their selection. Keep in mind that certain older guides may no longer apply, and the newest AMDGPU driver might not work with that specific Radeon model.

Try looking up "additional drivers" in the menu and pick the custom GPU driver available. Also, gaming on a 960m laptop using Manjaro Linux has worked well for me (https://manjaro.org/). It includes some top-quality built-in graphics drivers. Good luck!
