Hey everyone! I’m ready to jump in, but I’m still learning how to fix things. I’ve built this PC using parts I already have. It has an Intel 8700K with Gigabyte Z390 UD board, Corsair CL16 3000MHz RAM, an Asus RTX3070 graphics card, a NZXT 650W PSU, a 256GB SATA SSD, and a 256GB drive. At first it booted up normally and I was able to install Windows from a USB stick. The problem started when I tried to select a disk and the message appeared: “The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, windows can only be installed to GPT disks.” I got sidetracked and left it there for a while. When I returned, I checked the BIOS and noticed CSM support was turned off. I tried enabling it and waited until the system restarted. After that, the GPU began showing issues—especially when the GPU is connected or when HDMI is plugged in. If I remove the GPU and connect HDMI to the motherboard, everything works again. I’ve since reset the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery, but it didn’t help. Now I’m worried about installing Windows properly and wondering if the GPU might be damaged. Any advice would be great before things get worse!
It's possible the BIOS failed to restart correctly after removing the CMOS battery.
