System freezes or shuts down to black screen, repeatedly restarting. The board displays error code 90. Should I swap the CPU or both the CPU and motherboard? Recently, my hardware has expired its warranty by a few months. Specs: AMD 3700X with MSI Unity X570, 4x8GB RAM (overclocked), Evga 3080, two SATA SSDs, one SATA HDD (2.5-inch), and an Evga 1000W Platinum PSU in a Thermaltake X9 case. The water loop is only for the CPU, and previous builds also handled GPU cooling. Stability problems started a few years ago with TDR errors. The latest build lasted over three years, except for the GPU performance and a recent blue screen with TDR errors. About two months ago I experienced a black screen error, followed by crashes to a black screen occasionally. After a month, it would reboot without a black screen but still show the same issue. The frequency increased to multiple times daily. I replaced the PSU with a 1300W Super Flower, expecting it to fix the issue since the previous unit was from the same build. After installation, the system remained stable for three weeks without a crash before failing again. It booted normally for about three hours, then displayed a black screen and failed to load Windows properly. It shows the drive in BIOS but doesn’t recognize it as bootable. A second Windows install works, allowing file access, but right-clicking in Explorer crashes it. After hours of use, it black screens and only shows video intermittently. I see the system board code is 90, and others suggest it’s CPU/MBAO. Deciding now: should I upgrade to a 5800X3D or replace the board with a 7800X3D and add DDR5? Or should I continue troubleshooting?
