Display a black screen during internet connection issues.
I just set up Windows 11 on my first machine and the display goes dark when I connect the Ethernet cable. I still hear audio alerts like plugging in USB devices. I think the graphics driver is the issue. Restoring Windows worked by booting into safe mode and removing the display adapter—everything looks fine when I start normally. After about 40 seconds of connecting the cable, the screen turns black again. I’ve tried disabling driver auto-install through advanced settings, but it didn’t help. Details: GPU RX6600, CPU AMD Ryzen 5 5600 MOBO, RAM Kingston Fury Beast 2x8Gb.
I resolved the issue by rolling back the driver instead of uninstalling it. Now AMD drivers are causing the same problem. My thoughts are on a defective GPU or a faulty HDMI cable. The cable I had was just lying around, so I’m uncertain if it’s compatible with the GPU.
It was the cable! I got a fresh display port cable and it functions properly. I’ve been stressed about this for the last couple of days.
