My configuration: I5 4590 with Skill 16GB, RX 570 4GB, 500GB HDD. I’m unsure why my drive behavior changed after an update—sometimes it hit a 100 average while the PC was idle, other times it dropped to zero. I turned off SysMain because it kept running at the top, but now it’s just System and minimal apps. Also, is it safe to disable SysMain?

It's an HDD. On Windows they're generally set to 100% after about 20 minutes.

Are you referring to disk space? I’m not familiar with sysmain. I’d check the task manager to see what’s consuming so much disk space from time to time. If I were you and couldn’t find it, I’d reinstall the OS using a fresh installation media, apply all updates, then turn off updates for a month—this could help explain high disk and network usage during poor internet conditions.

As for SSDs, they’re much faster and use less power now. They’re also very affordable, making them a practical upgrade for better performance.

He could improve it and remove unnecessary parts to reduce the cost, I didn’t consider that, is your SATA 2 HDD? @Vastery

It seems unclear what you're referring to, but most often it's a system process managing disk usage.

doesn't occur on my laptop which has an HDD and a genuine, unmodified Windows setup. It happens occasionally (very infrequently), usually only for a short time—sometimes just a few minutes. Interestingly, it also runs faster than my desktop with a Samsung EVO SSD; around 14 seconds versus about 19. The BIOS speed is 3.9 seconds, which seems normal for an Intel chipset compared to my AMD desktop. @Vastery I believe this is typical after updates—restart the PC a few times and wait a day or two, and it should fix itself. If it persists, there might be an issue with the drive.

From what I've seen, laptops typically take a while to boot up.
