I finished just reinstalling my legitimate Win 8.1 on a spare 120 SSD and activated the phone. Then I upgraded to version 10, which gave me a generic key and activated it automatically. After that, I went back to the Win 10 install that required re-activation and changed the key to the generic one. Suddenly it worked—even if the motherboard is the same. Now I don’t have to reinstall anymore, and even if I do in the future, I can skip the full setup and just get a generic key to activate without issues. M., why not let people use those 8/7 keys for activating 10 if the free upgrade is still available? I still had to go through some steps, but at least I won’t need to reinstall or reprogram drivers again...
