Discussion about the Quad Channel topic
Hi, your Asus Prime X299-A supports quad channel DDR4, and you're looking to upgrade by adding more memory. If you add another set of four sticks with 4x4GB each, you'll have a total of 16GB of RAM. This should work well with your current setup if the sticks are compatible. If you try a different model rated at 3200MHz, it might still fit depending on the speed and compatibility of the new sticks.
It should work fine, though we can't guarantee 100%. Aim for comparable timing if you can. I'm using an 8x8GB system with the same cards as your X299.
It should function, though you might encounter some issues. Ram can be particular and may not always perform well.
So why look at the upgrade at all then? Best done when there is a need, and not just "because you can". (says the person running 64GB on a gaming system because I can, not because I need it...)
