I reside in a region with limited DSL speed, yet it remains sufficient for online gaming and stable connections. I’ve purchased Starlink but am concerned about interruptions during gameplay. I’m considering maintaining my slow DSL as well and wondering if platforms like Desmos, Path of Exile, or Diablo 3 support IP address changes via a multi-WAN router while gaming. Would I still lose my session?

certain games use UDP which doesn't support packet queuing like TCP does. Remember though, even with a multi-WAN configuration, your system still needs to wait for TCP packets to be reassembled properly. If there are problems on any WAN link, you'll face jitter and packet loss as long as data is being sent or received through that connection.

It might vary from game to game, but playing on slower stable internet is ideal for online gaming—just a small inconvenience. Thanks!

WinMTR can help analyze jitter and packet loss across different IP addresses. Starlink may experience interruptions, but the handoff between satellites should feel smooth, similar to a wireless AP in gaming scenarios. Speed matters less than latency and connection stability. For local areas, Starlink usually has higher latency, but over longer distances it might offer better performance depending on your ISP's routing. Ultimately, it varies—some games thrive with lower latency and more resilience, while others need consistent low jitter (e.g., MOBA, GTAV). Most FPS titles like COD, BF, Valorant perform best when latency stays steady with minimal jitter.
