I built this monster pc so i could game at good settings and not have lag. Yet in apex legends i cannot seem to get good fps i am on a 1440p monitor at 144hz i play at 1900 by 1200 16:10 in game because stretch helps. My rtx 2080 super cant get like over 80 fps in the drop ship and less then 144 in game while fighting? all settings are on low or disabled. Specs to the pc are Ryzen 9 3900x Rtx2080 super asus rog motherboard not sure which one but paid like 300$ for it 2tb nvme m.2 32gb ram at 3200mhz dual channel 850 watt psu not entirely sure what its called havent looked. Yet my pc seems to not run apex at a decent framerate i have all drivers installed. Is there something in nvidia control panel i need to set or something im doing wrong im so confused my gpu is in the second slot in the mobo but its a x16 slot

Have you checked how well the system performs in the main memory area? Did you verify that your RAM operates at the correct frequency?

It displays in Task Manager that RAM is active and also appears in GPU utilization. I haven’t checked the second slot yet—it’s an X16 slot.

Only the top connection uses the CPU's PCIe lanes. The remaining slot serves the chipset. Match your GPU to the appropriate port.

secondary slot refers to chipset lanes, offering marginally higher latency. The difference can vary—sometimes it's negligible, other times it's clearly noticeable.

Open GPU-Z and check the current lane it's using.

For maximum performance, consider using a 10900K or 10700K. The 3900X serves better as a balanced workstation or gaming CPU.

The second slot seems to be the problem. I understand I do CPU mining with the 3900x, yet I still notice low FPS. This machine feels sluggish despite the mining activity.

I switched the GPU slot to number 1 but it still won’t power on. That’s strange since there’s no post at all.
