I’m worried about powering the Intel 9600k from a 120-watt supply. It only draws 62 watts normally, but AVX tasks spike it to around 119 watts at peak. My setup uses a Viglen Genie micro PC with an H110T motherboard that’s been modified for 8th/9th generation CPUs. The power supply was upgraded from the original 65-watt model. Checking BIOS options shows no way to turn off AVX on this older board, which leaves me feeling a bit stuck. The H110T is designed for 6700k / 7700k (165W), but under AVX load it consumes much more power than the 120W supply can handle.

9600K doesn't fit with that motherboard. It works with up to 7700K and uses less than 80 watts when you avoid overclocking or running CPU-heavy tasks without AVX. I wouldn't choose a 7700K or any other 91w TDP processor for this board, since it appears to have just two-phase VRM without heatsinks. Also, your 120W power supply converts about 92-95% efficiency from 12-18V to around 1V, meaning the actual draw could be near 85-90 watts. The motherboard itself (chipset, audio, network) adds another 10 watts, so you're close to reaching the adapter's 120W limit. Edit... I noticed you modified it for 9th gen... I don't know what to say, but I still won't suggest anything above 65w TDP on this board.

You're facing challenges alone, but it's unlikely a standard motherboard can deliver 100 watts to the CPU from a DC source.

There’s a lot of misunderstanding here. It seems the information isn’t clear enough about what you mean by 7700k. I believe your actual power needs are around 80 watts, not higher than 9600k. Adding heatsinks won’t help much because there’s not enough airflow, so I’m depending more on the board’s ground plane. The board appears to handle power limits well with the G5400 I’ve installed temporarily—it’s designed for that. It’s rated for it, and without a heat sink it draws less power than 9600k or 7700k. I aimed for 8700k but thought it was too much, especially without soldered timers.
