Hello! Your setup involves a commercial VPN on a laptop and a NAS running Ubuntu. If you configure the download folder to use your NAS, the VPN should still function properly—it won’t just display your unprotected NAS. The NAS will handle the internet traffic through the VPN connection. Let me know if you need more details!

Is there a NAS in your home network? When you transfer files to the laptop using a VPN and point the NAS as the destination folder, the downloads remain secure and private. If you connect directly via the Ubuntu VM, your NAS's public IP address will be revealed.

The laptop and NAS share the same local network. If they're connected this way, the VPN should not interfere. Downloads will appear to happen over the VPN, while data moving from your PC to the NAS stays local.

It seems you're referring to a torrenting setup and suggesting binhex Docker containers. Clarify your question for better assistance.
