Hello, I'm trying to boost my system's RAM. I currently have a 16GB Corsair LPX unit with part number CMK16GX4M 2A2666C16. If I add another 16GB, can I safely install the CMK16GX4M 2E3200C16 without issues? I noticed the faster 3200 model is half the price of the older 2666.

Typically it won't create a problem. Keep in mind that the higher rated RAM will operate at the same frequency as the slowest RAM in the setup. Therefore, in this case the 3200MHz RAM will function at 2666MHz.

In short, it won't. However, keep in mind the combined 32GB (CMK16GX4M2A2666C16 + CMK16GX4M2E3200C16) will reach its top speed at 2666MHz due to your older RAM limitation.

Great, that matches your expectations. I prioritize overall performance over raw speed. I've noticed my RAM usage often reaches about 92% in certain situations, which might be why my PC lags during some games. My GPU stays at full capacity, and the CPU operates between 30-40%. This suggests RAM is likely the limiting factor. I usually play several instances of the same game and have YouTube running in the background. My hardware includes an i7 6700k (overclocked to 4.2), a 980 TI Samsung 850 Evo SSD, Corsair LPX 16GB RAM.

I operate several clients on Eve-Online, one per character. The game worked before graphics upgrades began but is now straining the system. My PC was built about eight years ago, though it might be time for a GPU upgrade or a full rebuild. When playing games like Jedi Survivor, I shut down all background processes to keep it running. Still, I can manage around 30 frames at high detail settings, keeping my old machine functional for now.

The 980 TI on Jedi Survivor is an impressive and bold move. You might want to keep your GPU running for a bit longer, at least until Fall. AMD just announced two days ago on Gamesconn that their Frame Gen version will work with all DX11 and DX12 games, no matter the GPU brand. This gives some hope for a higher frame rate, even if it means more latency. I don’t have the full details yet, so we’ll just have to wait until they officially release it then.
