Hey everyone, remember when I had to refresh my motherboard BIOS a couple of months ago? It turned out the old one couldn’t handle Ryzen 3000 and Radeon 6000 Rebar. After some crashes from A sus's crashfreebios, I found a stable version that still performs well today. Now, two months later I’m still puzzled about what caused these issues and how to prevent them next time.
What motherboard model are you running? Which BIOS version were you looking to install or update? Most updates should proceed without issues... Format the USB drive as FAT32. Extract the BIOS archive, keeping just the flash file inside the USB—no extra folders or files. Apply the update straight through the BIOS interface. Using Windows or the operating system can cause complications.
I'm using the Asus TUF B550m-PLUS and attempting to flash versions 2803 and 2403. After turning off the PC, I noticed a crash-free screen. I don't necessarily require the newest BIOS updates—my system is functioning well and the stuttering hasn't been frequent (just once or twice over the past two months since the update). For future updates, I'll keep your tips in mind.
The ASUS motherboard includes a USB BIOS Flashback function. If your BIOS gets damaged, you might be able to restore it. Essentially, you can update or recover the BIOS even if the CPU, RAM, or GPU aren’t connected. Just provide power.
