I have very little knowledge about Linux and I haven't even heard of proton until a few days ago. I have two questions that's running in my head on a loop while waiting for the steam deck. This might be a dumb question by the way. This is about non steam games, like from epic and gog. I know that most games from epic will run without the epic launcher. So if we just copy and phase the game folder into linux/proton system and then add them on steam, will the game just run normally? and then my 2nd question, how about those games that needs a client like AC that opens ubisoft connect first?

It's feasible, though results vary by game. It functions but isn't consistent across titles. You should review the compatibility page at https://www.protondb.com/ for details.

You can run non-stream games with Proton, though it’s not ideal for them. I recommend using Lutris instead.

Thanks for your response. It seems things are getting clearer now—I was just trying to process it. The main idea is that there are methods available. Once I have a Steam Deck, I’ll likely need to watch tutorials and guides to get started. I’m hoping Valve or others will simplify the process before the device launches. Appreciate the help!
