I reviewed the process to locate my chip's optimal settings, and it came out to be roughly 1.17v to 1.19v. Once confirmed, I tried pushing it further with those voltages to observe the results. It was quite a surprise—performing stably at 4.25ghz with 1.18v in both Cinebench R15 (score 2125) and R20 (score 4938). Maximum load temperatures stayed under 70°C, hovering around 65°C throughout. The values appear a bit low; were you reaching the maximum PBO limits?
I accessed the BIOS, turned on PBO, navigated to advanced settings, increased PPT, TDC, and EDC values to their highest limits (around 4900), then executed Prime95 Small FFT for several hours. The average voltage stabilized near 1.18v. The system performed exceptionally well under low voltages, and thermal performance has improved significantly. It was unexpected how stable it remained at those lower power levels.
Occasionally setting excessively high values in pbo hurts performance. Consider using 200/200/200 for ppt/tdc/edc instead. If 1.25v was fine for your setup, you might reach 4.3ghz+. Are you using the original cooler? That could be restricting your voltage options.
I might adjust it more with stronger voltages for marginally faster clocks, but I’m content with what I have. I’m confident it stays within the limits my CPUs are designed for. I want to avoid any instability in the future months or years. For my needs—gaming and video editing—I’m experiencing smooth, stable performance with this change (unlike my previous attempts with the Ryzen 5 3600x before I understood FIT or how to determine safe voltages). I followed the guidelines from an AMD post about voltages and finding the optimal settings for each CPU, knowing that every chip behaves differently. Very satisfied with what I’m running now.
