I want to increase the speed of my i5 8600k processor beyond its current 3.6GHz setting. I found a "CPU Upgrade" feature in my BIOS. My motherboard is a Gigabyte Z370 HD3, and after upgrading to CPU, I have three choices: 4.3, 4.5, or 4.7 GHz. I'm curious how much further I can push it without damaging the CPU. This is my first time overclocking a CPU. I have an 800W power supply and 3200Hz Corsair Vengeance RAM.

You might find it helpful to read a bit about the subject before diving in. Although it isn't as complex anymore, staying informed is wise in case any issues arise.

You cannot increase newer CPUs using Auto OC because the motherboard has protections in place. If you do manage to damage it, we can be certain it was defective from the start. Simply update the BIOS before starting. An expert overclocker can boost the i5 8600k to 5.0GHz or higher, so it should accommodate the specifications you mentioned. Maintain maximum temperatures under 80°C.

I wouldn't rely on preset OC's. They usually increase the voltage more than necessary. I'd watch some videos, read a few articles about OSC, then try it out slowly while monitoring the temperatures.
