You're looking for guidance on safely overclocking your I5 processor. It's great you're considering the specifics, especially since you're new to this process. For a stable and effective overclock, aim for a voltage that matches your CPU's recommended range. For example, if you want to reach 4.5 GHz, check your motherboard manual or manufacturer guidelines to find the safe upper limit. When targeting higher speeds like 5 GHz, ensure your cooling solution can handle the increased heat output. Always start with small increments and monitor temperatures closely.

I'm not the most experienced with overclocking, but I know that with an i5-7600k, you can safely increase the clock speed to around 4.5 GHz using an air cooled system. Unless you use a liquid cooler, which is worth about fifty dollars and allows for much higher speeds, it's probably better to stick to 1.45V or lower if you're doing continuous overclocking. A voltage of 1.4V seems acceptable, but I'm sure it will get too hot without proper cooling. A reliable choice would be around 1.35V.

Also, avoid running the system at 85°C for extended periods. For gaming, keep the temperature below 80°C. Processors can handle higher temps temporarily, but staying under 100°C is crucial to prevent damage, especially with a high-end chip like the 7600k. You might be able to run it at 100°C, but it will feel extremely hot.

In short, aim for 1.35V and monitor temperatures closely. I've been researching this a bit before getting my i5-7600k.

I’m not the most experienced with overclocking, but I understand that with an i5-7600k, it’s reasonable to increase the clock speed to around 4.5 GHz using an air cooled setup. Unless you opt for a liquid cooler—which is worth considering since they’re quite affordable and can push the frequency much higher—the stock voltage of 1.248V is fine. Most recommend staying below 1.45V for continuous overclocking, as it’s quite risky; 1.4V is acceptable but might cause overheating without proper cooling. A reliable choice would be around 1.35V.

Also, avoid letting the temperature reach 85°C for extended periods. For gaming, aim to keep it below 80°C. Processors will continue running until they overheat, which could lead to damage, especially with a high-end chip like the 7600k. Running it at 100°C is possible but extremely dangerous.

A safe approach would be to set it at 1.35V, and I’ve been researching this since I’m planning to get an i5-7600k soon—thanks for the advice!

So the recommended safe setting is 1.35v, with a multiplier of about 45.

I’m not the most experienced with overclocking, but I understand that with an i5-7600k it’s possible to reach 4.5 GHz using an air cooled setup. Unless you opt for a liquid cooler—which you really should consider since they’re around fifty dollars and can push your OC even higher—the stock voltage is 1.248V. Most recommend staying below 1.45V for continuous overclocking, which is quite risky. A safer range would be around 1.4V, though I’m sure it will get too hot without a heatsink. A reliable choice would be about 1.35V.

Also, avoid letting the temperature hit 85°C for extended periods. For gaming, aim to keep it below 80°C. Processors can handle higher temps, but they’ll struggle if overheated—especially with something as costly as a 7600k. It’s better to run it around 100°C at most, though it will feel extremely hot.

A good plan would be to set it at 1.35V, and I’ve been researching this since I’m getting an i5-7600k soon. Thanks for the advice!
