Just bought an Asus TUF M4 "6 button " mouse - £50 - to replace the tiny "5 button" £10 one I've been using in games for years and discovered its not really 6 buttons when your gaming its 5 'cos you cannot bind the DPI button above the scroll wheel.
Is there any way using 3rd party software to utilise all 6 buttons when gaming ?

Six button and six bindable buttons are different concepts. If they had promoted it with six bindable buttons, I would understand your argument. Still, there are some third-party programs that let you assign mouse buttons to any keyboard key you select. You would then map the function in the game to that specific key, allowing the mouse button to mimic it. Xpadder was among the earliest tools for this, which I have tried, but many alternatives now exist.

Thank you for your prompt response and the link FM. I will review them.
The description on Asus' Amazon listing says "Six tactile, programmable buttons..." which seems accurate but might be misleading since it's marketed as a gaming mouse.
I’m likely to return it anyway, as Asus' bloatware Armory Crate no longer recognizes it, and I can’t reprogram any of its "Six tactile, programmable buttons."
Thanks again.

In addition to what was mentioned, I am returning the Asus TUF M4 mouse to Scan Computers UK because I needed to install "Armory Crate" to program the buttons, but it doesn’t recognize the mouse even after Asus support recommendations. Earlier this week I purchased a Logitech G502 Lightspeed wireless mouse, which is almost twice the cost but performs very well. Through their G-HUB software I can assign most of the 11 buttons to game actions or keyboard keys.

Yeah Logiech produces quality mice. I previously owned an MX 500, but now I have a G402. I've consistently preferred Logitech mice because they last longer, feature smooth sensors, and offer reliable buttons and software.

Well the mouse performs exceptionally well. From a gaming perspective, I decided to give it a try in Mechwarrior 5, though the G-HUB setup was almost nonexistent. I had to view numerous YouTube tutorials to learn how to link mouse buttons 1 through 5 with the standard fire keys, and 7 and 8 to keyboard shortcuts I used before. Buttons 6 and 9 needed to be assigned specific keys in G-HUB, which was straightforward. Then I had to map game actions to those same keys. The main challenge was assigning a game its own profile—every time I clicked the games desktop icon, it would revert back to Profile 1 (Desktop). I had to lock it to a new profile to prevent this. Overall, it’s a decent piece of hardware, and I’m hoping the G-switch will unlock more advanced functionality. I wish Logitech had provided a detailed video or PDF guide for users like me who are used to standard mice.
