You're looking for Times New Roman in LibreOffice Writer on your Steam Deck. It sounds like a straightforward font change, but the process can be tricky given your setup. Have you tried checking if the font is already installed and, if not, searching for it in the LibreOffice font manager? Also, make sure your SteamOS version supports the latest LibreOffice updates. If you're comfortable with commands, you could use `console` to list available fonts and then install the desired one manually. Let me know if you need step-by-step guidance!

It's not a LibreOffice issue, it's a Linux issue. Linux doesn't come with the exact same fonts as Windows; they're all clones or just-similar-enough renditions. You should be able to copy the font files out of a Windows install and shove them into SteamOS, though. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Microsoft_fonts

They can be accessed directly through Font Management on your desktop. When you select "Get New Fonts," it displays MS True Type core fonts.

When things get tricky and you're under pressure, office.com can be a handy option. The basic tools are free in the browser, though they may lack some advanced features found in the full versions. Most people don’t need those extra bells and whistles. You can create a document using Times New Roman and save it as a .docx file without cost online. I haven’t used MS Office recently at home, but it’s often my preferred choice when working with Microsoft files.

Thanks for your response! Your answer seems to work well, though it might be a bit complex for someone just starting. I’ll try to break it down more clearly next time!

You're welcome! I wasn't aware there was such an option. I decided to give it a shot, but it returned an error stating "Cannot install [...] because it points to a webpage [...]". It then suggested going to the specified page, which appears to be a redirect to filecroco.com. This seems unrelated to what I expected from the link. I also tried using different fonts, but they all ended up pointing to LinuxBox links instead. Despite the confusion, I appreciate the suggestion!

That's unfortunate, it appears to be malfunctioning. However, locating the .ttf files from File should resolve the issue.

You may also create it in Libre Office, adjust it within office.com, fix any styling problems, save it, and submit it.

Thanks a lot for your assistance! Installation went through. It's still not showing up in LibreOffice Writer, even though it's set up in the Font Manager. However, when I entered the font names in Writer, it worked perfectly. Quirky. Still appreciate your support!
