Is it typical for a sticker to hide the real print on a motherboard? You described peeling it off to reveal label paper, which seems to match what others have seen online. It appears the board lacks the "WIFI" section but still has the rear antenna setup. Your purchase from Amazon showed the item as new, but you received a used board without the original packaging or accessories. Inside one of those donation boxes mentioned, it seemed like a second chance for the product. Are these stickers common on Gigabyte boards, or did someone swap parts with another buyer? Also, many people face similar problems with shipping delays and damaged items when ordering PC components online. You're not alone in this frustration—delays and incorrect shipments are unfortunately part of the process.
The review highlights possible issues with the Gigabyte X570 AORUS Pro Wi-Fi board. It suggests the device might be a refurbished unit serviced by Gigabyte, where components like the wireless connector and IO Shield were altered during service. The only differences noted are missing holes in the IO shield, connector changes, and altered board markings. For concerns, it recommends checking sales on platforms like Amazon, avoiding "open box" or third-party sellers unless you're certain of their reputation.
Oh okay that makes sense, not sure why they would sell it as new though. I'm definitely returning it, I was just curious. I've always thought Amazon Services LLC was just Amazon, never really knew it wasn't actually Amazon thank you for pointing that out to me. Still doesn't explain why they sold it to me as "NEW" when its not even a "like new" open box but its actually a used refurb that's been around the block. They should've listed it as used refurbished and I would've never bought it. Already learned my lesson buying "used" PC parts off amazon lol. I'm already in contact with Amazon but they're making me play the waiting game some more saying they can't do anything until it is marked as delivered.
Looking closer at the board, I saw one SSD heatsink missing its protective film. The thermal pad is covered in fingerprints and dog hair. It seems Gigabyte doesn’t replace the thermal pads during refurbishment. This board appears to be a used item—probably bought new, sent in for return, refurbished, and then resold as brand new by someone else. Quite a twist of fate!
