Discussing boosting performance on an AMD Athlon II X2 250
I have this setup:
AMD Athlon II X2 250, 3.0GHz
MSI GF615M-P33 (MS-7597)
8 GB Kingston DDR3 1600MHZ (supports 1333MHZ)
ATI Radeon HD 5670, 1GB DDR5
I’ve overclocked my CPU using a stock cooler and a 500W PSU. The new speed is 3.5GHz!
All parameters remain consistent after overclocking (Vcore is 1.376, power usage is 61-60W, fan runs at 3198 RPM). I adjusted the multiplier to 14, increased HT lint from 800MHZ to 1000MHZ, and kept the same NB frequency (2005MHZ, matching stock). During a test with linX, the CPU reached 21GHz!
My question is: Are these values acceptable? And is reaching 21GHz normal during the test?
Please help!
Set your voltage manually. If it remains in auto mode under a heavy load, it may exceed the safe limits (most motherboards struggle with this, even premium ones). Perform stress tests over a longer period and monitor temperatures closely throughout.
Thank you for the update! I will attempt to configure the voltage manually. I believe it's set to auto, but I'll verify that. The tests ran for two hours with linX, CPU temperature never exceeded 50°C, and voltage stayed at 1.378, not exceeding it. Only CPU speed reached 21GHz. When playing games, everything works well, even the CPU speed (3.5GHz). Which voltage should I choose—1.378 or higher?
