In typical scenarios, USB adapters for SD cards function identically to regular USB storage devices. You should encounter no problems using them.

Yes, any USB drive will work as long as you use a compatible format like fat32.

Do you think there would be any issues if the read only switch on the adapter was on. Edit: To clarify, I'm asking because I have recently begun extensive research and self teaching tech security/maintenance. I am now currently learning about firmware malware/rootkits and was wondering about hypothetical alternatives to CD Roms. Edited April 1, 2021 by Anonymous Display Name Clarifying question

They're interpreting it too much. The update checks the file signature, and any variation stops it.

O.K. thanks a bunch. I figured as much, but I have only done a few bios updates (using a regular flash drive) during my relatively short time with computers and I still have a bit of the fear that is propagated and associated with interacting with the bios.
