You're considering switching from Windows 8 to a fresh installation of Windows 10 using your existing 8-key license. It's understandable to prefer stability over the risks of beta testing. Yes, you can perform a clean install of Windows 10 with a valid Windows 8 key, though it may require some effort to remove and reinstall all settings. Make sure to back up important data before proceeding.

Right now it isn't happening, and possibly never will be. Consider setting up 8 using the 8-keyboard first, then hold off until Windows 10 is available.

Set up Windows 8, enter your activation code, obtain a Windows 10 upgrade package. After the new version launches and your system is updated, perform a full reinstall and apply your Windows 8 key.

They could simply expand the key layout to accommodate more keys. As for the reserve option after ten launches, it depends on the specific rules and availability.

It's uncertain, though I'd guess otherwise.

Once you reach level 10, your 8 key transforms into one for 10. You can then employ a utility to fetch the key inside the OS and apply it during a clean installation of version 10.
