I own an Edgerouter X and plan to install PfSense and PiHole. If I buy a smaller PC like this, can I still set it up? Do you have any tips on more affordable or better options in the same price range?

Is the edge router being swapped out? This should be achievable. You likely aim to configure a hypervisor, then deploy PFSSL and Pihole within its virtual machines.

It might be too much effort. It should work just fine. I’ve heard from others who’ve tried it with Intel NUCs, and you might be able to get a decent price on used units.

You could keep using Edgerouter while also routing PiHole and PfSense. Simply forward their traffic to the Edgerouter, which will handle the routing. Alternatively, you could configure the Minipc as the router and set Edgerouter as a switch for management purposes.

The N100 supports AMD64 instructions, so it can run PfSense.

For a typical small setup, a single router is sufficient.

xFi Gateway in bridge mode > Edgerouter X > computer/TV/wireless access point. Could I try xFi Gateway>MiniPc with PFSense & PiHole > Edgerouter X in switch mode > computer/TV/wireless access point? Is this feasible?

You might consider swapping the edge router for the pfSense device. After that, take out the edge router and install a switch.

The mini PC might not support running PFSense or Pihole directly.

You can operate them together on a single machine. I switched to a pfSense box instead of using pihole and combined pfSense into one box.
