Discussing a CPU upgrade.
Discussing a CPU upgrade.
I've been experiencing frequent frame drops and stuttering in the games I play, especially at low settings. I'm planning to upgrade my CPU soon. Right now, I don't feel the need to upgrade my GPU since it seems sufficient for my needs. My budget is around 300 USD, though I'm a bit flexible. My current setup includes an Intel i5 8600 on an ASUS Prime b360m-a motherboard (LGA1151), 16 GB of RAM (2x8 GB), and a GSKILL Ripjaws 3200MHz DDR4 module. The EVGA KO Ultra RTX 2060 with 6 GB VRAM is also installed. The best choice would be a CPU that fits the same socket and works with my existing chipset, but this isn't the most cost-effective or performance-oriented option. I was thinking about moving to AMD for AM4, as it offers many affordable models compared to high-end CPUs like the i9 9900K. However, since AM5 is available, I'm unsure if it's worth the investment in DDR5 RAM and more expensive CPUs. If I switch to AM4, I was considering a Ryzen 5 5600X for about $150 USD and a compatible B550 motherboard for $100–$150 USD. Any guidance on the best path would be appreciated.
