Hey everyone, I'm an employee at Best Buy and managed to grab a DDR5 RAM kit and a DDR5 motherboard at a great price. The RAM is $295 and the board is $200 after tax. Here are the links to what I purchased:
- [Corsair Vengeance 32GB 2PK 16GB 4x8GHz DDR5 kit](https://www.bestbuy.com/site/corsair-ven...Id=6491867)
- [Gigabyte Z690 AORUS PRO socket 1700 USB 3.0 RGB board](https://www.bestbuy.com/site/gigabyte-z6...Id=6485682)
I’m currently running an Intel i7 8700K with an RTX 3080. I’m torn between upgrading to a 12th gen Intel chip or holding off until the Ryzen models arrive. Since I’m not doing much CPU-heavy work—just gaming mostly—I feel like sticking with Intel. I also heard new Intel parts might not work well with Windows 10, which adds to the uncertainty. What do you all think?
Don't know the source of this advice... If you can get the mobile+ram at a low price, I’d recommend a new Intel CPU. Unless you prefer to hold off until the next generation of AMD chips. The latest Intel models sometimes struggle with older game drivers and efficiency cores, though they shouldn’t affect Windows performance. The new AMD CPUs will use a different socket, which means using an older AMD chip now might limit your options—so you can either wait for the new AMD or go with Intel. It’s up to you.
