She works in a medical records firm and often has to contact insurance companies. Their home setup isn’t ideal—she prefers the living room for her toddler while she stays in the PC room for privacy. The main challenge is balancing her need for attention with her work, especially since her job involves sensitive health information. Remote desktop isn’t an option due to HIPAA requirements. She’s using multiple monitors from a small space, and I’ve checked out many solutions like dual HDMI or shared peripherals, but none seem suitable. I’m trying to help her find a better arrangement so she can work comfortably in the living room when needed, while keeping her work secure. If you need more ideas, just let me know.
You might consider using a display port with an HDMI cable and then a splitter. Then, you could purchase a wireless keyboard and mouse with long range. It’s challenging to figure out all the details, especially since I’m not sure about the distances involved. This approach seems complicated and possibly a bit impractical for me. Some problems here might be: are you attempting to run multiple screens on one TV in a PIP mode? Are you using wireless or wired devices? It sounds like a lot of cables would need to be laid between the rooms. Your PC provider is likely handling everything. RDP isn’t available because it’s within your local network. You wouldn’t want to expose RDP to the internet unless the device is fully secured.
