I believe Play 3.0 isn't fully supported, which might affect compatibility. However, streaming from storage remains problematic, especially with HDR and DV on AMD hardware. I think it's mainly intended for ripped movies, so this shouldn't be an issue. If he intends to use it for Netflixe 4K HDR, he should consider spending more on a better GPU. For now, the stock AMD cooler is acceptable—it's only slightly noisy under heavy use and can be upgraded later.

It might be wiser to consider Intel instead.
I prefer not to use a dedicated GPU since the goal is a continuous home server/NAS operation that needs minimal power usage.

In that situation, you should opt for what was mentioned. The main issue is the lack of support for Netflix 4K HDR. It should work well for other things too. That might be resolved with a future firmware update. Yes, setting up the Radeon Graphics for HDR can be tricky compared to NVIDIA, but it should be manageable once fixed.
