Discuss RAM and XMP settings.
Hey there, I need some guidance. After about eight years with an i7-3770, it was time to upgrade. I upgraded to an Aorus X570 master with a R9 3950X, 32GB 3200 Coarsair Vengeance Pro RAM, Corsair HX750i, a couple of Firecuda M.2 drives, and a Noctua NH-D14 cooler. Everything functions well now, but the performance gap is huge—super satisfied overall. People mentioned that first step should be enabling XMP in the BIOS to let the RAM run at 3200MHz. I tried that, but the system crashed during Windows installation and got unstable. After resetting the BIOS, I installed the OS and everything works smoothly. My RAM is now at its potential, but I haven’t pushed it to its limit yet. Once the new case is installed and I switch to water cooling, I’m not planning any more overclocking. Just enabling XMP seems enough? Are there any other factors I should consider or is there a specific speed I should aim for? Thanks!
Thanks everyone. I'm using two sticks, labeled A2 and B2 on the board. They're in the first two slots, which is perfect. I'm excited to test those BIOS settings!
