Hello everyone, I’m facing an unusual issue I’ve never encountered before. About a week ago, I assembled a compact PC and it performed extremely sluggishly. Even after installing all drivers and updates on Linux Mint, the performance remained poor. When I tried using integrated graphics, it worked smoothly, leading me to suspect a faulty GPU. I checked forums and saw others report similar issues, often resolving them by switching to Windows. After that change, the integrated graphics improved but still lagged. My GPU usage stays consistently above 50%, sometimes reaching 99%, while drawing only about 39W under load—normally it draws around 20W when idle. Right now, I’m using Windows 10 Pro 64-bit with a 600W PSU and a RX 6600 graphics card on a Mini-ITX case (S300). I can’t locate the BIOS version or updates online, and my monitor is a 3440 x 1440p display.
I have the same issue with a 6700xt and can't seem to find a fix. It's really confusing.
Hi! I fixed the problem by making the motherboard use PCIe Gen 3 instead of Gen 4. I hope it works for you too!
