You're looking for a feature similar to the traditional task manager's dropdown when selecting icons. Unfortunately, Kubuntu's default icon-based task manager doesn't include this functionality out of the box. You might need to explore third-party tools or custom scripts to achieve this.

You can usually find the icon-only task manager in the settings or options menu for the icons-only application.

No, it doesn't automatically run the task. Right-clicking the icon opens a context menu with options to manage or view the process.

No adjustment option exists within the system, and none appears to be modifiable.

Check system settings on your desktop for taskbar thumbnails. Verify if it works there.

Current KDE release is the latest available. Older tutorials often contain inaccuracies since features and interfaces have changed.

The newest update remains elusive, and I'm still struggling to make it function properly. It seems working smoothly requires opening an excessive number of tabs, which then switches to a list view. There might be a configuration option that limits the maximum number of windows displayed before this behavior changes.
