Recently I've grown tired of spending a lot of time on fast-paced shooter games since beginning to play. However, I discovered some fascinating titles recently such as Portal, Portal 2, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, and Dear Esther. I really enjoyed The Vanishing of Ethan Carter and Dear Esther, though the latter was more of a side note. I'm curious if anyone knows of games similar to these. I've been exploring Murdered Soul Suspect and Gone Home—feel free to share your thoughts if you've played them. It's not that I dislike shooters anymore; just that I've become a bit weary of the genre. After trying out the games I mentioned, I found myself enjoying exploration, mystery, and other elements more. I'm looking for experiences beyond straightforward action or typical RPGs/RTS formats. I appreciate stories that unfold gradually and emotionally engage you, much like reading a well-written book. I hope this gives you a sense of what I'm seeking, and maybe someone knows something relevant. By the way, I'm really drawn to impressive visuals—Ethan Carter in particular looks stunning. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Yes, it seems to be a puzzle game similar to Portal.

I enjoyed the games you referred to, except for dear Esther. The visuals were impressive, though I didn’t like the overall experience beyond capturing good images.

You can wrap up the entire game in under an hour—it's not really a good idea, just check it out on YouTube.

Although it's a first-person shooter, I still highly suggest Borderlands 2 since it offers more than just gunplay—it's genuinely fun!

That was an interesting question about Portal. If you're saying it, I definitely liked it. Initially, I wasn't a fan of Dear Esther, but once I got into it, I appreciated the poetic and imaginative way the main character described the accident. (I know what you mean.)

Dark Souls offers a deep, mysterious experience with minimal exposition, inviting players to uncover its secrets. Its striking visuals, though somber, add to the atmosphere. Don't miss Transistor for its captivating design and engaging music, paired with an entertaining combat system.
