Not many people are staying away from the Rift due to Facebook, and it bothers me when someone makes such a simple argument.
Many people advocate for the Vive, but that's often seen as blind loyalty. Both sides have valid points, and it's okay to weigh the trade-offs. The Rift remains more comfortable and easier to use, offers better controller options, and runs smoothly on less powerful PCs thanks to ASW. The Vive excels in simpler tracking setups for larger spaces and includes a front-facing camera. Upgrades are arriving wirelessly faster, and the new "knuckles" controllers look promising.
This software feature ensures the VR experience remains acceptable even when the PC struggles to sustain 90 FPS. You can use the Rift on a less powerful computer than you would with a Vive. An FX-8320 works fine, as most modern VR games aren’t overly demanding on the CPU. However, it’s not the best option.
Oculus offers a more comfortable and lighter experience, eliminating the need for personal headphones due to reduced weight and cables. The feel of the touch controllers is more natural compared to the Vive controllers. Cameras are only required for PC connection; the setup is slightly pricier for the full Oculus walkthrough than the Vive since an extra camera must be purchased. The Vive includes a front-mounted camera, which some find unnecessary. You don’t need to connect external lights to your PC—just power it on. As @Sakkura mentioned, there’s a strong presence of Vive enthusiasts on this forum.
