Receiving the Civ BE on a disc for your birthday shouldn't affect its availability on Steam in your library. It functioned similarly with BF4 last year, so you should be able to access it without issues.

BF4 entered through a Steam platform, not a separate game. By adding it to your Steam library, you’re saving it for future access and updates.

You can play the game on a disc and use Origin to launch it, but purchasing the disc doesn't automatically activate it on Steam.
