Hello,
This issue has been occurring over the past few months, especially during the hours between 7:30pm and 11pm to 11:30pm. My Discord network latency becomes very unstable, jumping from a normal low of 20 seconds to over 150 milliseconds. The main concern is that my outbound packet loss rate is currently at 0%.
My primary game is Overwatch 2, but this problem seems unrelated to other platforms like YouTube or Twitter.
I’ve contacted my ISP several times, who claim they see no network issues and suggest the problem might stem from many devices connected. This could be a possibility, though it hasn’t happened in years and I haven’t added many new devices. I also switch my phone’s internet off when using my PC to try to resolve the issue, but it doesn’t help.
I use Ethernet and read a Reddit post suggesting that disabling IPv6 improved my ping. I attempted to disable it manually on my PC, but it was already turned off, so I enabled it again to check if it would fix things—though it actually made the problem worse.
Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for reading this.

unless you have a dedicated line, it is shared with others, not just your own

I have Ethernet available, but my internet remains shared with my family. It still occurs during late-night hours when only my device is connected or I'm alone at home. I'm unsure why this happens and how to resolve it. This issue first appeared around last October, and I've never experienced it before.

there isn't a specific line that comes directly from the ISP, such as a premium business line.

Your network or just the general network?
Unless you have a dedicated line from your computer straight to the game server, there’s a lot of traffic your connection must share bandwidth with. Considering the time of day, it looks like a heavy load on the gaming servers is likely—though this might be unusual if you notice it across all games on different servers.
It could be that your ISP has started throttling Discord and gaming connections during peak hours; they probably wouldn’t admit it openly. You might try reaching out to them again and asking directly if they ever apply throttling in such situations. Do you know someone using a different ISP who could take your computer there for testing? Or perhaps connect via your phone hotspot, just to see if it improves latency and help you figure out the cause?

I plan to call about this around the 4th or 5th time and will make sure to mention gaming and Discord.
Unfortunately, I don’t know anyone nearby with a different ISP who might need my computer.
I haven’t tried using the hotspot on my phone yet, but from what I see, it seems like only Discord and video games are lagging for me. No one else in my home reports these problems.
I might reach out to someone who works in that kind of internet ping issue area to get their perspective.
Thank you for your reply!
