Adjusting the High Precision Event Timer can improve performance, though results vary. Disabling it may boost FPS but could affect stability or graphics quality. Some users report issues like lag or crashes if not managed properly. You can usually revert it back to its original setting.

Newer releases skip using HPET and opt for quicker alternative timers. Activating HPET only benefits specific programs, doesn't impact all games. Windows offers various timer options. The main issue with HPET adjustments is the abundance of outdated details that keep promoting its relevance.

It runs smoothly with the Ryzen 5 3550H, Radeon RX560X, 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD at medium to high settings (60-120fps). However, for more demanding titles like No Man's Sky you experience around 40fps with occasional stutters.

In the end, it won’t cause damage, but it’s unlikely to provide any benefits either. You can turn it on or off freely—just give it a shot and see what happens.
