Hi .. Recently a persistent sound began on my main system. After checking, the issue lies with the chipset fan. When it turns, it makes a loud noise suggesting something is damaged. My motherboard is an Asus Crosshair VII Formula (x570). Can I turn off this fan? The fan cover is hidden, and the BIOS doesn’t list the PCH fan. Are there any third-party solutions or alternative methods to silence it? Since the PC is over a year old, warranty likely expired.

Are you certain it's not listed in the BIOS? Both my MSI and Gigabyte x570 boards include chipset fan curves in the BIOS. In the worst case, you could take off the shroud and unplug the fan. Be sure the chipset isn't excessively hot before proceeding.

I'm confident about the fan curve and also a bit surprised. There are curves for chassis fans, CPU fans, AIO pumps, and so on, but the PCH fan isn't listed. If it exists, I would have turned it off. It looks like your advice is the best option. I'll just disable it by removing the connector, even though it's a bit of a hassle. Before doing that, I'll contact my local Asus office to confirm if the board is still covered under warranty (I bought it on August 27, 2019).
