Dirty Bomb is the first free-to-play game I really like.
The game has been quite engaging thus far. It still requires some adjustments (Fletcher's spam-prone Sticky Bombs and the Phantom’s single-shot Katana), but it remains in beta—so it’s understandable. Until it moves past beta, I won’t be investing much. The main worry is Nexon’s track record with free-to-play titles, which can sometimes cause issues. What do you think? Overall, it’s caught my attention. A few reasons I like it: No level blocks exist—like obtaining certain weapons only after reaching a specific level. There’s minimal paywall; you only need to pay for Elite Cases (which unlock higher-grade cards) and Credits Boosters. The game emphasizes team play and objectives—your kill/death ratio isn’t displayed until the end, but teamwork can boost your score even with lower numbers. Loadout cards above Bronze are just cosmetic and don’t offer any benefit. (See images below) If you’re curious, here are some details: https://eu.alienwarearena.com/giveaways/...y-giveaway
Alienware is running a promotion with Dirty Bomb—sign up on their site and receive a Steam Key for two exclusive skins for the Starter mercs Aura and Skyhammer.
The starter pack is reasonably priced, though it’s not mandatory to buy it. For those unfamiliar with loadout cards, here are some visuals: Source: http://forums.dirtybomb.nexon.net/discus...t-loadouts
I was really excited about that game. But when I learned they don’t support texture mods, things changed. The competitive scene turned into a place where most players skip mods altogether. Why should I play something that’s going to have many people taking unfair advantages? Without a low barrier to entry, it would just attract hackers if it even gets popular.
I didn't really like it much, though I thought it had a nice look. The gameplay wasn't as enjoyable for me. Still, it's worth mentioning since it's free.
I’m not really into the cutthroat atmosphere, though I understand they’re trying to push it. Even with just 18 hours on the game, I’ve only seen one hacker so far... Definitely if they plan to make this a competitive esports title, they’ll need to address the hacking issue. I’m more excited about enjoying the game itself. When you mention texture mods, do you mean skins? From what I see, they seem to have managed to keep the pay-to-win model working without relying on skins. All loadouts are available through in-game credits, and there’s no paywall yet.
I meant there are no textures at all—just grey and white ones. This makes it easy to see players against the back round. It's not just for competitive play; many players use it too. They accept this as part of the company's policy. It really turned me off the game. Anyone can download it and remove textures without getting banned. If they let that happen, what else are players doing?
TF2 is the only F2P I will genuinely like. There's just some feeling that makes me want to play it more and more. It's relatively simple too.
