Hello! I recently got DiRT3 on steam because I love racing games.
First problem was easy enough to figure out. Even though there's a fancy 8x MSAA thing, the game will not let you use it because I guess it prefers AMD for this game and I have NVIDIA. Fine, whatever.
But the main issue is the microstuttering. I'm gaming on a 180hz 1080p monitor and while I can get way more than enough frames for the game (able to push 370fpsg minimum) I cannot get the microstuttering to go away.
Does anyone have a fix for this? Included is a video. Watch the rims just stop for a fraction of a second. This is literally every 2 seconds. anyone have a fix for this?

I also used the "Ultra low" preset and it performed the same action.

i would examine the core the game relies on and identify what the machine is doing beyond just playing the game that leads to the system becoming non-priority.

just to check, I placed every other process on core 0-5 and assigned DiRT3 to 6-7. It's actually the sole activity running on those cores and it keeps stuttering.

To be truthful, I don’t encounter this problem with dirt 3 because I don’t run the steam version or use Windows 10 or any of the newer programs required to play old games on modern systems.
The only thing I can say is... something seems to be happening every couple of seconds, and the game is likely causing the issue. It might just be a matter of luck with your hardware and software not being compatible with this particular title.
I’m not sure what else I can do besides testing different drivers and patches.

Thank you for your effort. It seems I should consider playing more games that mimic racing or try Forza.
